Hi James, your article about Paul Revere and the Raiders brought back a cascade of memories. In 1965, I was playin' in a band called The Poor Boys based in Jamaica, Queens, New York. I was only 16 years old then and we were booked in a bar called The Queens Lounge. In those days, you needed a Cabaret License to perform in any club or bar in NYC. Being underage then, I first needed a phony ID which I obtained somehow (I don't remember that part), but I needed to swap out the picture of Robert Benny Attard to my own picture. Well as fate would have it, whilst I was carefully attempting to attain the swap, the power went off. It was November 9th, 1965, the night of the first great northeastern blackout. Well, I finished the operation by candlelight, and eventually got my Cabaret License.......more later on my substack....

Can't wait to read the rest of this story. I've read a lot a stories about jazz musicians and the problems they had with cabaret licenses but I've never thought about rock bands needing them as well.

I have worked with Mark a little here in Idaho. He's an interesting character.
